As any local readers know, I am serving as editor of the new Suburban in south suburban Dallas, which is making an attempt to replace the recently closed Today.br /br /First, the good. br /br /Going to a free throw gets rid of the horrible cost of second-class postage and otherwise reduces overhead. The tabloid size sets it apart from the old Today and the Focus.br /br /Now, the not so good. I think trying to cover Grand Prairie, Midlothian and the Best Southwest is just biting off too much. And, I think the paper has its smallest ad sizes set too small. Finally, there’s probably going to be some trust issues, especially related to the publisher.br /br /As for publishing? Well, we had moving-related glitches last week. We’ll have an issue out this week. We may go two weeks before another.br /br /Seriously? I give this about a 50-50 shot of doing anything beyond three months.br /br /Oh, as for former Today Newspapers staff? Allegedly, Sherry Griffin, the new ad sales manager at the Ellis County Press, absconded with Today’s subscriber list, and former Today owner Kim Petty may press charges.div class="blogger-post-footer"There is no god and I am his prophet.img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7532871-8581217958470700637?l=socraticgadfly.blogspot.com'//div
